Urungnya Milla memberi keputusan mengenai masa depannya di Timnas Indonesia disinyalir karena eks juru latih Timnas Spanyol U-21 ini belum menerima haknua selama tiga bulan yang dikabarkan bernilai Rp 6,9 miliar.
Tak hanya itu, PSSI juga dikabarkan belum membayar sewa rumah Milla di Bali hingga membuat sang pelatih harus menalangi biaya mulai Februari hingga Agustus.
Terkait hal ini, pemerhati sepak bola nasional, Akmal Marhali, menilai PSSI semestinya jujur kepada publik perihal kondisi ini sekaligus wajib membayarkan apa yang menjadi hak Luis Milla. Bahkan menurutnya hal ini bisa membuat PSSI dihukum oleh FIFA.
“Utang itu bahkan bisa membuat PSSI dihukum FIFA. Apabila, PSSI tidak berniat memperpanjang kontrak Luis Milla. Segala kewajiban harus diselesaikan. Mulai dari utang dan akomodasi tempat tinggal yang belum dibayarkan,’’ ujar Akmal, seperti dilansir dari detik.com(12/09/2018).
“Penting ini untuk diselesaikan segera. Jika tidak, masalahnya bisa panjang. Milla bisa saja melaporkannya kepada FIFA. Milla bisa saja melapor ke FIFA dan PSSI pastinya akan kena sanksi,’’ sambungnya.
